About

Built by a merchant, for merchants

MerchantSkill started in a Shopify store that runs on Sidekick every day. Sidekick is capable, but as one merchant put it on the Shopify forum, it is "like getting a new set of LEGO's, but without the manual." Skills are the manual.

Who builds it

MerchantSkill is made by Pixelspiece Solutions, a Shopify Partner based in Surat, India that builds apps for merchants: PIMW Product Personalizer, PX Buy 1 Get 1 + Schedule Sale, Tailor Size Guide & Fit Finder, Pixel Estimated Delivery Date. We run our own store too, which is where every skill gets tested. See our apps on the Shopify App Store.

What a skill is

A Sidekick skill is a saved prompt you trigger with a slash shortcut. Sidekick lets each user keep 25. Every skill here is written the way Sidekick's own skills are written: a clear description of when to use it, numbered steps, an output format, and guardrails that stop Sidekick changing your store without asking.

How skills are tested

A skill is marked Verified only after it has been run on a live Shopify store during the current Shopify Edition and produced what it promises. Skills that have not been run yet say so. After each Edition we re-run the library and update the changelog.

How the site is funded

The skills are free and released under CC0. The site earns from clearly labeled affiliate links (for example when a skill needs an app Sidekick can't replace), category sponsorships, and the newsletter. Sponsors never influence what a skill says or whether it is marked verified. See the sponsor page.

Independence

MerchantSkill is an independent resource and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Shopify Inc. Shopify and Sidekick are trademarks of Shopify Inc.
